It’s the height of summer and over here at HQ, we’re heralded by giant cosmos and those beautiful yet invasive Japanese beetles reminding you how bad they are at flying. Over all, I’ve really been relishing the slowness of summer over here as things had been a little quieter these last couple weeks as we head into August, but the fall is filling up quickly! July really flew by.
Took a trip to Oregon and had the full experience. Backpacked 41 miles around Mt. Hood, had a day on the coast, visited the Grotto, swam at Rooster Rock on the Columbia River, ate amazing food, thrifted, visited bookstores, rode bikes, & had beers (with blackberries, raspberries and plum trees growing abundantly). Saw one of the craziest sunsets of my life, might have been a UFO in there....
Anyway, when I’m not traveling, in these lazy last days of summer I’m eating ice cream, running in the Wiss, listening to Donovan, George Strait and Yoko Ono on repeat and just read a great book for bookclub called Who Will Run the Frog Hospital by Lorrie Moore. Such a beautiful, short, lived-in book about two teenage girls growing up in a small town. Next up is the 2nd installment of the On Calculations on Volume series by Soljev Balle, STOKED!
